The handle is made from durable French natural walnut and the Opinel curved blade is effective, precise, elegant.

The blade locks using the Virobloc Safety Ring which was developed by Opinel which in addition to locking the blade in the open position for safety of use, now enables locking of the blade in the closed position for safety during carrying.

This Stainless Steel Fillet Knife uses Sandvik 12C27 Stainless Steel which is renowned for its incomparable cutting qualities; it requires no special cleaning to maintain or clean it.

ABOUT OPINEL:

Victor-Amédée Opinel who was a peddler, learnt how to forge nails during his travels. He set up his first blacksmith workshop in Gevoudaz, a hamlet part of Albiez-le-Vieux, near Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. His son Daniel later worked alongside his father and grew to became a renowned “edgetool maker”(maker of sharp tools) among farmers who came from afar to buy his billhooks or sickles...

Fast forward to the new millenium and the Opinel pocket knife is recognised as one of the 999 most successful designs of all times by a jury of international designers in the beautiful three-volume set of the "Phaidon Design Classics"
