OPINEL N°08 Limited Edition Black Folding Knife with Gift Box - Oak

The black edition of the iconic Opinel knife.

The BLACK finish on the Stainless Steel blade and ring is obtained by a specific treatment (PVD coating), this treatment improves the resistance to corrosion (in accordance with food contact). The oak handle from French forests is varnished. This knife offers an excellent cutting quality. The safety ring allows the user to work without any risks. The handle is made from high-quality oak wood.

(NOTE: This treatment is scratch-sensitive, be careful not to use abrasive products or abrasive sponges when cleaning.)

Presented in a wooden gift box making this a perfect gift.

Blade: This black blade is matt and more resistant to rust than a classic stainless steel blade. This blade is more sensitive to the risk of scratching, be careful not to use abrasive products or sponges when you clean it.

Handle: Opinel oak comes from France. It is a hard wood, very resistant, including to insects and fungi thanks to a high tannin content. It has a yellow-brown appearance, with regular veining.

Safety Ring: Virobloc made in stainless steel with a specific black treatment which improves the protection against the corrosion. This treatment is scratch-sensitive, be careful not to use abrasive products or abrasive sponges when cleaning.

ABOUT OPINEL:

Victor-Amédée Opinel who was a peddler, learnt how to forge nails during his travels. He set up his first blacksmith workshop in Gevoudaz, a hamlet part of Albiez-le-Vieux, near Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. His son Daniel later worked alongside his father and grew to became a renowned “edgetool maker”(maker of sharp tools) among farmers who came from afar to buy his billhooks or sickles...

Fast forward to the new millenium and the Opinel pocket knife is recognised as one of the 999 most successful designs of all times by a jury of international designers in the beautiful three-volume set of the "Phaidon Design Classics"
