With the N°08 Cosmos, a thematic limited edition collection released biannually - Opinel has collaborated with three artists whose work is a tribute to this universal fascination, to the silent connection between us and the stars.
The cosmos inspires scientists as much as artists, dreamers as much as explorers. It embodies the connection between humanity and the universe, between the tangible and the elusive. In the immensity of the sky, everyone searches for meaning, emotion, and light. On the N°08 hornbeam handles, three artists have translated that same quest into vivid interpretations of the cosmos.
The Cosmos edition is a tribute to this universal fascination, that silent link between us and the stars. To finish off iconic No. 08 pocket knife, three artists set out to explore the skies: Dalkhafine, Benjamin Jeanjean and Asile. Limited edition with numbered blades, 8,200 of each model produced.
Limited edition designs as a tribute to universal fascination
Dalkhafine
Dalkhafine, the artistic alias of Delphine Dussoubs, is a French multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal. With a background in 2D animation, she now focuses on personal projects across illustration, motion design, murals, screen-printing and more. Her colourful, nature-inspired world often blends strength and mysticism. In this piece, she explores cosmic symbolism through a powerful tiger and radiant siren, representing the balance between earthly force and celestial energy.
Benjamin Jeanjean
Benjamin Jeanjean is a French visual artist based in the Basque Country, known for his figurative and symbolic style. Drawing from old engravings, symbolism and human contradictions, his work blends poetry with black humour. His illustration presents a structured cosmic universe centred around an antique vase and a solar face adorned with Yin and Yang, exploring balance, duality and the interconnected nature of all things.
Asylum
Asylum, the alias of French illustrator Elisa, creates joyful, dreamlike worlds filled with colourful characters and gentle symbolism. Her work celebrates kindness, balance and emotional harmony. In this illustration, she depicts the Sun and Moon not as opposites but as complementary forces, seated together on a crescent moon, expressing equality, connection and cosmic balance.
